DAY 1: Arrival in Puerto Asís – Donde Se Oculta el Sol Nature Reserve – Mohano Waterfall – Night Safari

Reception by the local guide at Tres de Mayo Airport in Puerto Asís. It is important for passengers to arrive early in the morning to ensure the smooth running of activities.

Departure for Villagarzón on a journey of approximately two hours. We will arrive at the Donde Se Oculta el Sol Nature Reserve, a space cared for by several local families who have dedicated their lives to protecting the forest. We will be welcomed with a lunch prepared with local ingredients, offering a first taste of Putumayo’s flavors and the simple, warm way in which its inhabitants share their table.

Then we’ll begin a hike along the reserve’s trails, under the shade of tall trees and the constant sounds of the forest. Along the way, we’ll observe diverse forms of life and learn more about the ecosystem of the Andean-Amazonian corridor, a meeting point between mountains, jungle, and water.

The tour will take us to Mohano Falls, a place where the water and the silence invite us to pause for a moment.

As evening falls, we’ll continue on to our lodging, a cozy retreat surrounded by nature, run by a local family who share their hospitality and knowledge with us. After a dinner full of homemade flavors, the night invites us to enjoy a fascinating experience: a night safari through the reserve. In silence and with a flashlight in hand, we’ll be able to observe some species that only show themselves after the sun goes down, and feel how the forest changes its rhythm when night falls.

DAY 2: Puerto Limón: Living Culture

Breakfast. Then, we’ll head to Puerto Limón, a town where Afro, Indigenous, and settler cultures converge. We’ll kick off the adventure with a boat ride to two sacred waterfalls, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim, then continue our adventure by tubing down the river while taking in the stunning scenery.

Upon returning to the town, we’ll enjoy a traditional Afro-Colombian lunch with Doña Rafaela and tour the town to explore its colonial history. We’ll conclude by connecting with Indigenous culture alongside the grandmothers, sharing dances and ancestral customs.

At the end of the day, we set off for Mocoa, where we will spend the night. After checking into the hotel, the adventure continues with a unique culinary experience led by a local chef who combines native ingredients from Putumayo in a three-course meal that highlights the essence and culture of the Amazon.

DAY 3: El Fin del Mundo Waterfall

Breakfast. We’ll set off for the End of the World, a natural treasure where the Andean and Amazonian ecosystems converge, creating breathtaking landscapes and captivating natural pools. We’ll hike up forest trails, accompanied by primates and local birds, and stop to taste sugarcane juice and learn about the area’s fascinating history.

Then, we’ll cross the Dantayaco River and arrive at a natural overlook to gaze upon the majestic waterfall, over 70 meters high, with the option of canyoning for the more adventurous.

Finally, we’ll relax in crystal-clear pools before enjoying lunch in a cave with a spectacular view, and then begin our descent.

At the agreed-upon time, we’ll return to Mocoa. Dinner and lodging.

DAY 4: Finca La Fortuna – Puerto Asis

Breakfast. We’ll head to downtown Mocoa to explore its vibrant local market. There, colors and aromas intertwine: exotic fruits, handicrafts made with ancestral know-how, and textiles that tell stories through their threads and colors.

Around noon, we’ll gather our luggage and set off for Puerto Asís, where we’ll enjoy an immersive rural experience at the La Fortuna Agritourism Farm. Upon arrival, we’ll be welcomed by a local family who will accompany us on the journey to their home via a peaceful canoe ride. This journey, surrounded by birdsong and the stillness of the water, gradually immerses us in the harmony of the surroundings.

Upon arriving at the main house, we will learn to prepare an authentic rural cold cut platter, a traditional dish that combines local ingredients and the essence of rural life. Then, we will explore the farm’s trails, walking among Amazonian fruit crops and discovering the planting processes.

Our visit will continue at the Coca Museum, where the family will share their inspiring story of transformation and resilience: the transition from illicit crops to a sustainable economy based on agriculture and local production. This experience invites us to reflect on the strength of communities and their ability to reinvent themselves through hope.

Before departing, we’ll have the opportunity to purchase products made from processed Amazonian fruits, as a way to support local businesses and take a little piece of the region home with us.

Finally, we’ll wrap up our journey through Putumayo with a stroll through Puerto Asís’s main park, where we’ll experience the town’s daily life and visit a small local shop to pick up souvenirs, handicrafts, and other mementos. At the agreed-upon time, we will depart for the Puerto Asís airport.

End of the experience, beginning of the memories.
