Begin your adventure in the bustling metropolis of Bogotá, set against the stunning backdrop of the Andes. Explore the charming colonial towns of Boyacá and Santander, including the remarkable Salt Cathedral in Zipaquirá and the artisan village of Ráquira. Immerse yourself in the rich colonial architecture of Villa de Leyva and Barichara before journeying across the majestic Chicamocha Canyon by aerial tramway to Mesa de los Santos. Experience the verdant beauty of the coffee-growing region and navigate the adventure-filled waters of the Magdalena River, culminating in the Caribbean jewel of Mompox. Discover the enchanting allure of Santa Marta, known as “The Pearl of the Caribbean,” and the biodiversity hotspot of Minca, along with the pristine wonders of Tayrona National Park. Conclude your journey in the romantic ambiance of Cartagena, with leisurely days spent unwinding on nearby tropical isles.





Itinerary

Day 1:

El Dorado Airport – Bogota

Upon your arrival at El Dorado International Airport, you’ll be greeted by your English-speaking guide who will assist with your transfer to the hotel. Installation and presentation of your itinerary by your guide. Free time for dinner and rest. Please note that dinner is not included and is to be enjoyed independently

Day 2:

Bogota – Paloquemao Market – Historic Center and La Candelaria Neighborhood – Monserrate – Gold Museum

Start your day with a traditional breakfast at the hotel before embarking on an excursion to the renowned Paloquemao market square. Here, immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere as you taste exotic fruits. Following this, enjoy a panoramic tour of the city’s historic center, featuring iconic landmarks such as Teatro Colón, Nariño Presidential Palace, Bolívar Square with its Cathedral, and
the colorful graffiti of the Candelaria district. Experience impressive sights of the Colombian capital by taking the funicular railway ride up to Monserrate. Enjoy a typical lunch, savoring the local specialty, Ajiaco, before continuing your adventure with a visit to the Gold Museum. Marvel at the world’s largest collection of pre-Columbian gold artifacts, including alloys and ceramics from the indigenous Muisca and Tayrona cultures. (Note: closed on Mondays). Return to the hotel for a relaxing evening, free time for dinner (not included).

Day 3:

Bogotá – Zipaquira Salt Cathedral – Raquira Village and Villa de Leyva

After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for Zipaquirá, home to the renowned Salt Cathedral, a marvel built 190 meters underground. Following this, enjoy a panoramic tour of Zipaquira before lunch in the village (not included). Next, we head to Villa de Leyva, known for its expansive market square. On the way, we’ll stop at Raquira, famed for its clay and ceramic pottery. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to visit local shop and workshops, even trying your hand at crafting your own clay piece with the guidance of skilled
artisans. After lunch, arrival to Villa de Leyva where you’ll check into your hotel. Free time to relax and for dinner (not included).

Day 4:

Villa de Leyva – Game of Tejo (National sport)

Start the day with breakfast at the hotel before heading out to explore the Santo EcceHomo Monastery, located just 8 km from Villa de Leyva. Dating back to the 17th century and built by Dominican monks, this historic site boasts beautiful architecture, religious art, serene gardens, and intriguing underground passages.

Next, venture to the Fossil Museum, situated in the nearby village of Monquirá. Established in 1977 through the efforts of local farmers, the museum showcases a remarkable collection of over 500 pieces of the region’s paleontological heritage, including the renowned “Pliosaurus” specimen discovered during agricultural work. Additionally, explore the craft shops contributing to the village’s vibrant tourism scene.

It promises to be an enriching and memorable day of exploration. After exploring the Fossil Museum, your adventure continues with a visit to the Candelaria desert and “El Infiernito,” an intriguing collection of pre-Columbian statues with phallic forms. Upon returning to Villa de Leyva. Free time for lunch (not included).

The afternoon invites you to wander through the city’s quaint streets, where colonial architecture preserves the charm of yesteryears. Explore craft shops and confectioneries, indulging in local delicacies like the beloved “besitos de novia” biscuits.

As the day winds down, immerse yourself in Colombia’s cultural heritage with an invitation to partake in the national sport of Tejo. Accompanied by a refreshing beer and a delectable “picada” dish featuring potatoes and an assortment of meats, it’s an authentic Andean experience.

Conclude your day with a return to the hotel. Dinner (not included).

Day 5:

Villa de Leyva – Barichara

Breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a journey to Barichara, renowned as one of Colombia’s most picturesque colonial towns, approximately a 4-hour drive away.

Upon arrival, settle in at the hotel and enjoy lunch (not included). In the afternoon, explore the town’s iconic landmarks, including art galleries, craft shops, colonial churches, and the majestic Rio Suarez canyon. Take a guided tour focusing on Barichara’s architectural treasures and colonial houses. Conclude the day with dinner (not included).

Day 6:

Barichara – Guane Colonial Trail

After breakfast at the hotel, embark on a scenic 3-hour hike along the colonial path to the charming village of Guane. Immerse yourself in its small whitewashed houses and stone streets, evoking a sense of timeless tranquility. Indulge in a tasting of Sabajon, a traditional drink crafted from goat’s milk and grilled ants. Enjoy lunch (included) before returning to Barichara by tuk-tuk, the region’s traditional mode of transport. Return to the hotel. Dinner (not included).

Day 7:

Barichara “one of the most beautiful towns of Colombia” – Chicamocha Park – Mesa de los Santos

Breakfast, departure by private vehicle for the breathtaking Chicamocha Canyon, a scenic 2-hour drive away. Experience the splendor of the Andean landscape with a cable car ride through the canyon. During the journey, enjoy lunch (not included). Continue to Mesa de los Santos, renowned for its ideal climate for coffee production. Upon arrival, settle in and participate in a coffee-related activity at the coffee estate where you’ll be staying. Gain insights into coffee cultivation and quality assessment techniques. Dinner on your own.

Day 8:

Mesa de los Santos – Barrancabermeja – Mompox

DAY 8: Mesa de los Santos – Barrancabermeja – Mompox
Start your day with breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a private vehicle journey to Barrancabermeja, situated along the picturesque Magdalena River. Here, board a private boat for a scenic 5 to 6-hour cruise to Mompox. Relax and take in the stunning river scenery as you sail. Enjoy lunch onboard. Upon arrival in Mompox, check in at your hotel and unwind. Dinner is yours to savor at your own (not included).

Day 9:

Mompox – Watermark Route

Begin your day with breakfast at the hotel, then join your English-speaking guide for a captivating 3-hour walking tour. Explore key historical sites, starting with an introduction to local history, followed by visits to landmarks such as Plaza de la Libertad, San Francisco church, Candelario Obeso’s house (Poeta Negro), Santísimo Cristo Basilica, House of Culture, and the Municipal cemetery. Enjoy a leisurely lunch in the city on your own.

In the afternoon, delve into the art of filigree craftsmanship with a guided tour of a workshop. Witness the intricate techniques used to create jewelry from gold and silver wire. Under the guidance of a master goldsmith, participate in a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn to craft your own filigree piece. Return to the hotel in the evening, dinner at your own.

Day 10:

Mompox – Santa Marta

Enjoy breakfast before setting off by private vehicle for Santa Marta, a journey of approximately 6 hours and 30 minutes. Lunch (not included) on the road. Upon arrival at your hotel, settle in and take some free time to explore the town. Dinner (not
included).

Day 11:

Santa Marta – Tayrona Park

Breakfast at the hotel and departure by private vehicle for Tayrona Park and check-in at the Ecolodge in Tayrona Park, an exclusive and unique hotel located in the park.

In the morning, you will set off on a hike accompanied by your English-speaking guide. Between tropical jungle, century-old trees, abundant vegetation and heavenly beaches. Visit Explore Cabo San Juan, perched high on rocky outcrops, and make stops at the park’s magnificent beaches for swimming and relaxation.

Tayrona Park is renowned for its diverse wildlife and plant species, with elevations ranging from sea level to 900 meters. Arrive at Cabo San Juan for a lunch of local fish and coconut rice (not included). Later, ascend to the Mirador de Cabo San Juan for panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada and beaches.

In the afternoon, begin your return journey, with a maximum walking time of 6 hours. Return to the Ecohabs within the park to rest. Dinner (not included).

Please note: Tayrona Park will be closed during the following periods in 2024: February 1st to February 15th, June 1st to June 15th, and October 19th to November 2nd.

Day 12:

Tayrona Park – Minca – “Ear of the World” Waterfall

located in the Sierra Nevada mountains, just an hour’s drive from Tayrona Park.

Upon arrival, check into your hotel before embarking on a journey to explore a traditional coffee farm. You’ll be greeted by one of the descendants of this longstanding family-run coffee enterprise, renowned for preserving traditional methods and expertise. Dive into the intricacies of coffee production, from seed selection to bean harvesting, pulping, washing, drying, and roasting.
Following the farm visit, venture onto a scenic trail where you can spot Colombia’s endemic bird species before enjoying a delicious lunch (included).

In the afternoon, take a stroll to the “Ear of the World” waterfall, where you’ll indulge in a wellness session featuring a therapeutic clay workshop and a refreshing dip in the waterfall. Return to the hotel. Dinner (not included).

Day 13:

Minca – Cartagena

Breakfast at the hotel and departure by private vehicle for Cartagena for a journey of around 4 hours and 30 minutes. Arrival at your hotel with its traditional colonial architecture, located in the heart of the historic centre of Cartagena.
Check-in and lunch time (not included). Free time to discover the city. Dinner (not included).

Day 14:

Cartagena – Community of La Boquilla – Getsemani District – Fort San Felipe

Begin your day with breakfast at the hotel before departing by private vehicle for the Afro-Colombian fishing village of La Boquilla, nestled on the beach amidst mangroves.

Experience a traditional pirogue ride through the marshes, guided by a local fisherman who will share insights into the village’s history and the mangrove ecosystem. Learn about the diverse mangrove tree species and observe the rich flora and fauna thriving in the marshes. Conclude the ride with a refreshing tasting of coconut water.

Following this, engage in an Afro-Caribbean percussion class led by the village’s talented youth. Then return to Cartagena to explore its historic center. Discover landmarks such as the San Pedro Claver church and monastery, the Cathedral, and the colonial houses lining the streets. Stroll through the vibrant Getsemani district known for its colorful graffiti and alleys. Lunch (not included).

In the afternoon, visit the imposing San Felipe de Barajas fort, a formidable Spanish military fortress built in 1536 to defend against pirates. Explore its tunnels and underground galleries before returning to the hotel for relaxation. Dinner (not included).

Day 15:

Cartagena – Return

Breakfast. At the agreed time, transfer to the airport for your return flight to Bogotá or your international flight.
