What to expect

 

3-day tour, visiting the Floating House on the Amazon River and getting to know the Victoria Regia, the largest lotus in the Amazon. Next, visit Puerto Nariño, the first green municipality in Colombia without motor vehicles. Visit to the town and the Tarapoto Lakes with the possibility of observing the river dolphins.

We ́ll continue the journey on San Martín de Amacayacu where you will learn about the tradition of medicinal plants in the traditional Chagra, nursery and the Maloca Moruapw,Mocagua, you will see its painted houses and the Maikiuchiga Foundation that supports and contributes to the conservation of forests by protecting the habitat of the Churuco monkey and other species of primates.

Itinerary

 

DAY 1: Leticia – Houseboat – Puerto Nariño – Tarapoto Lakes

Reception by our specialized guide at the Vasquez Cobo airport in the city of Leticia.
Passengers must arrive by noon to stay on schedule.

Continue to the pier where we will board a private boat to the floating house on the Amazon River for lunch.

Next, visit the Victoria Regia Reserve, where you can admire the largest lotus in the Amazon. The tour of this place is made easier by the fact that bridges have been installed a short distance from the water over the lakes where these enormous plants, the Victoria regias, grow, making it possible to see them in detail.

Continuation of the tour along the Amazon  River to the Municipality of Puerto Nariño, check-in at the selected hotel.

At around 4 pm, departure in a native boat along the Loretoyacu River towards the Tarapoto Lakes with the possibility of observing pink and gray dolphins, bird watching, and watching the sunset (in summer, when the waters are low, this activity is carried out in the Correo Lakes and the mouths of the tributaries with the Amazon River).

Return to Puerto Nariño, dinner and rest.

DAY 2: Puerto Nariño – San Martin de Amacayacu – Mocagua

Breakfast. Departure by native boat to the community of San Martín de Amacayacu, a journey of approximately 1 hour sailing along the Loretoyacu, Amazonas and Amacayacu Rivers.

San Martin is a town of the Tikuna ethnic group, there we will enjoy the landscapes and culture, learning and strengthening the local culture, touring the chagra and maloca of the Moruapow group.

Continue to Mocagua, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy an Amazonian lunch with an indigenous family.

Visit to the Maikuchiga Foundation or Monkey House, supporting the work of caring for and conserving primates and the jungle.

Return to Puerto Nariño. Dinner and accommodation.

DAY 3: Puerto Nariño – Leticia – Vásquez Cobo Airport

Breakfast. At the indicated time, departure by shared boat to the city of Leticia.

According to the flight schedule (it is imperative that passengers have their return flight from 11:30 am so that they can board the shared boat. If passengers return earlier,will charge an additional fee to hire a private boat service) transfer to the airport or activities in Leticia are carried out.

Depending on the opening hours and program itinerary, it is recommended to visit the ethnographic museum of Leticia or visit Tabatinga in Brazil at no additional cost.

End of the experience, beginning of memories.

  • Extra luggage carriers: If you carry more luggage than allowed, you will have to pay an additional fee of $30,000 pesos for the boat and $30,000 pesos for carrying the luggage to the dock on Fantasy Island.
  • It should be noted that in summer (late July to late November) the river dries up and passengers must be transported in a wooden boat to the raft where the rapids come out. For this reason, a luggage charge of $80,000 per person is charged.
