Itinerary
DAY 1 – Riohacha · Manaure · Uribia · Cabo de la Vela

Meeting in the city of Riohacha at 8:00 a.m. We then depart for a Wayuu ranchería, where we’ll begin our experience with an introduction to the local culture, their worldview, customs, and traditions. This is a space to share stories, weavings, and knowledge of a community that has preserved its ancestral identity.

We continue our journey to Manaure, where we’ll visit the artisanal salt flats, a luminous white landscape that has been a source of sustenance for the Wayuu for generations. Afterward, we head to Uribia, recognized as the “Indigenous Capital of Colombia,” a vibrant city where the traditions of the Upper Guajira region are alive and well.

At midday, we arrive at Cabo de la Vela, a sacred place for the Wayuu and one of the most emblematic sites in northern Colombia. We’ll enjoy lunch featuring traditional cuisine and relax by the sea. In the afternoon, we visit Pilón de Azúcar, also known as Kamaichi, a hill offering panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea. Then, we’ll take a walk along Ojo de Agua and Dorada beaches, where you can relax and connect with the tranquility of the surroundings.

As evening falls, we prepare for one of the most anticipated moments: the sunset from the Cabo de la Vela Lighthouse, an unforgettable sight where the sun dips below the dunes and meets the sea.
Departure for traditional lodging. Dinner and overnight stay.

Arrival in Nazareth, at the National Parks office where we will receive a briefing on entering the protected area and be assigned a local interpreter. Check-in at the lodging and dinner.

DAY 3 – Macuira National Natural Park · Punta Gallinas

Early breakfast at 5:00 am and transfer from your accommodation to a meeting point for the day’s hike. We will embark on an approximately 4-hour round-trip hike, accompanied by a local interpreter, through dunes, cloud forests, and surprising waterfalls in the middle of the desert.
