What to expect
5-day tour, visiting Puerto Nariño, the first green municipality in Colombia without motor vehicles where indigenous communities of the Ticuna, Cocama and Yagua ethnic groups live with settlers from various parts of the country.
Visit the Natutama Interpretive Center and the Tarapoto Lakes with the possibility of observing the river dolphins, discover Amazonian knowledge and flavors, ancestral knowledge and colors of the jungle.
We will nourish the body and soul with the flavors of the chagra and the river, making this trip an adventure of knowledge and connection with this wonderful, fragile and powerful ecosystem.
Amazonas, one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet where it is possible to appreciate and enjoy the jungle, the worldview of the ethnic groups and their culture.
Itinerary
DAY 1: Leticia – Tierras Amazónicas
Reception by our specialized guide at the Vasquez Cobo airport in the city of Leticia.
Transfer to La Floresta hotel in Leticia and check-in. Lunch not included.
Dinner in Tierras Amazónicas’ restaurant and accommodation.
*Depending on the opening hours and program itinerary, it is recommended to visit the
ethnographic museum of Leticia at no additional cost or visit Tabatinga in Brazil for an additional
fee.
DAY 2: Leticia – Puerto Nariño – Natutama Foundation – Night walk
Breakfast. Departure from the hotel and walk to the pier to take the public boat to the
municipality of Puerto Nariño (journey of approximately two hours). Check-in at the Maloka Napü hotel.
Walking tour to the Natutama interpretive center where you can appreciate the ecosystems of the jungle in high and low waters, as well as the characteristics of the river fauna (dolphins, manatees, turtles, fish, birds, among others).
Tour of the town where you can see sculptures of the Amazonian fauna and climb to the
viewpoint from where you can see the Amazon River, the Loretoyacu River, the lakes and the rainforest. Night walk discovering some of the inhabitants of the jungle. Return, dinner and accommodation in Puerto Nariño.
DAY 3: Puerto Nariño – 20 de julio community – Tarapoto Lakes – Knowledge and Flavors

Breakfast. Tour of the 20 de Julio community, a small community near Puerto Nariño with a Yagua-Ticuna component, two ethnic groups now sisters due to the multicultural dynamics of these territories. On this tour we will be able to find social elements that, together with nature and culture, are shaping the current landscape of the Amazon in this extreme of Colombia.
Lunch in Puerto Nariño. Afterwards, departure to the Tarapoto Lakes, a Ramsar ecosystem where you will have the chance to observe pink and grey dolphins (in low waters the dolphins will be observed at the mouth of the river).
Return to Puerto Nariño and Experience of Amazonian Flavors and Knowledge where you will share with a grandmother of the Tikuna ethnic group, the preparation of patarasca, a traditional dish, and Amazonian fruits, time to enjoy dinner. Accommodation in Puerto Nariño.
DAY 4: Puerto Nariño – Cacao Island – Altamira Community
Breakfast. Departure to Cacao Island located in Peru, in front of Puerto Nariño, approximately 2 kilometers in a straight line crossing the Amazon River.
Cacao Island has internal lakes where you can see the largest aquatic plant in the world, “Victoria Regia”, and where you can observe birds and sloths.
During the low water season, you will be able to cross traditional crops of cassava, banana,
vegetables and some greens such as cucumber, pepper, tomato, and pumpkin before reaching the community.
You can also go on a 2-hour hike to see the giant Oje tree. During the high water season, you can walk along the lakes until you reach the town.
Lunch in the Altamira community and return to Puerto Nariño. Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 5: Puerto Nariño – Leticia – Vásquez Cobo Airport
Breakfast. Departure to Leticia by public boat.
According to the flight schedule (it is imperative that passengers have their return flight from 11:30 am so that they can board the shared boat. If passengers return earlier,will
charge an additional fee to hire a private boat service) transfer to the airport or activities in Leticia are carried out.
End of the experience, beginning of memories.

- Filtered water (it is recommended to bring a bottle to refill) and seasonal fruit during the tours.

15 kilos (optional). - Loan of used boots with advance request (subject to availability of sizes). Otherwise, they can be purchased in Leticia for an approximate value of $50,000.

- Entry tax to Leticia (paid directly at the airport upon arrival):
$50.000 (2026 rate subject to change). - Entrance to local attractions not described in the plan.

- Extra luggage carriers: If you carry more luggage than allowed, you will have to pay an additional fee of $30,000 pesos for the boat and $30,000 pesos for carrying the luggage to the dock on Fantasy Island.
- It should be noted that in summer (late July to late November) the river dries up and passengers must be transported in a wooden boat to the raft where the rapids come out. For this reason, a luggage charge of $80,000 per person is charged.
