What to expect
The Putumayo Amazon has many stories to tell. We invite you to meet extraordinary communities and people who have worked to create new opportunities for conservation and development. Through conscious tourism experiences, you’ll discover a different way of traveling: a more human form of tourism, connected to nature, open to learning, and committed to sharing knowledge.
DÍA 1: Arrival in Puerto Asís – Finca la Fortuna
Reception by the local guide at Tres de Mayo Airport in Puerto Asís. It is important for passengers to arrive early in the morning to ensure the smooth running of activities.
We begin at Finca La Fortuna, a place that showcases the transformation of rural life: a canoe tour, the preparation of a traditional cold cut, a visit to the coca museum, and the story of how the community replaced illicit crops with sustainable alternatives. We’ll also have the opportunity to purchase processed Amazonian products such as sweets and chocolates made from local fruits.
An experience to learn, taste Amazonian fruits, and feel the resilience of the region.
Arrival and check-in at Kofan Lodge, a lodging that blends urban and rural styles. Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 2: Guamuez Valley – Theobamba association
Breakfast. Embark on a journey to the Guamuez Valley in Putumayo, where you’ll discover the inspiring work of the women of the Theobamba Association, who have transformed illicit crops into high-quality cacao.
We’ll start the adventure by meeting our hosts and enjoying the artisanal chocolate they’ve prepared. We’ll hike the Sendero de los Dioses, where we’ll learn about cacao cultivation, taste the fruit in its natural state, and participate in a sensory cacao tasting surrounded by nature. Lunch. Along the way, we’ll observe local wildlife, including unique birds and primates such as the Plecturocebus discolor. We’ll also enjoy local cuisine and have the opportunity to purchase local products like mucilage gummies and chocolate.
Return to the lodge, dinner, and rest.
DAY 3: Fin del Mundo Waterfall
Breakfast. We’ll set off for the End of the World, a natural treasure where the Andean and Amazonian ecosystems converge, creating breathtaking landscapes and captivating natural pools. We’ll hike up forest trails, accompanied by primates and local birds, and stop to taste sugarcane juice and learn about the area’s fascinating history.
Then, we’ll cross the Dantayaco River and arrive at a natural overlook to view the majestic waterfall, over 70 meters high, with the option of canyoning for the more adventurous.
Finally, we’ll relax in crystal-clear pools before enjoying lunch in a cave with a spectacular view, and then begin our descent.
In the late afternoon, we’ll rest at a lodge in a nature reserve run by a local family, where we’ll also go on a night safari in search of reptiles and amphibians, discovering the secret life of the jungle. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 4: Donde se Oculta el Sol Reserve – Mohano Waterfall
Breakfast. Departure for the Donde se Oculta el Sol Nature Reserve, a biodiversity sanctuary in the Andean-Amazonian corridor. We’ll hike along trails beneath lush trees, then take a dip in the Mohano waterfall to recharge our energy. (The duration of the activity will depend on the time available.) Lunch.
At the agreed-upon time, departure for the airport in Villagarzón or Puerto Asís.
End of the experience, beginning of the memories.
